Happy Father's Day! My
World Podcast #17
Happy Father's Day to the Father of the
House of the Rising Sons: Dr. Kwaku Person-Lynn.
Here's hoping you get that i-Phone you've been
craving!
Hello, all! This episode
of My World Podcast features a clip from the
archives when I was hosting The People's
Connection on the now defunct KACE FM.
TPC was an offshoot of Sunday Morning Live
which I hosted for 9 years with Mark Whitlock.
During this 1994 clip
Kevin Ross was my co-host. It was
fun listening back but not much has changed.
Forward this page to the brothers who need to
hear it.
This is my last podcast
hosted by Pod Show Creator. From
here on out, MWP will be hosted by Go
Daddy. Please make sure you
resubscribe in Itunes to My World Podcast.
If you only watch/listen from the site
and do not download episodes you don't need to
do anything. Thanks, Isidra Person-Lynn

I have enjoyed the Pan
African Film Festival ( at the Magic Johnson
Theaters. My Nappy Roots, directed by Regina Kimbell was
a big hit. She interviewed Kwaku as well as many
others in the film. If you ever see this movie for
sale, buy it! It's all about our hair, its
history and why we do what we do to our hair.
Next up is the premiere of Dr. Kwaku's 2nd film this Saturday,

Listen to the

Black History Tip: Everyone
is naturally focusing on the two black coaches,
but did you know it's being played in a Black
city??? Kwaku told me this one:
Dolphin Stadium is in Miami Gardens, a city of
predominately
African Americans who make 6 and 7
figures. The Mayor, City Council and many other
city officials are African American.

Greetings, everybody! T.H.E. Clinic,
Inc. is a client of mine over on
Western Avenue in Los Angeles. The health
facility itself is very nice, but the area it is
in, well, let's just say the commercial areas
have problems caused by a synergy with the
motels, liquor stores, recycling center and the
park, where the tennis courts are homeless
bedrooms. Drugs have reduced many of these
people to this lowest level of living and the
resulting filth that comes with the foot
traffic--winos, hookers and street dwellers--is
awful. But I drove past it everyday and it
never occurred to me that it could be cleaned
up.
This same scenario is
repeated in pockets of communities all over the
city. Watch this video to see how happy
residents and stakeholders were to come together
and as S.A.D.A.A. sings, "Clean It Up!"
By the way, S.A.D.A.A.
came early to join in the cleaning, but I
suggested a sound check before they left...and
the DJ was playing Jill Scott's song "It's
Love."
"Do you want it on your collard greens, uh?
Do you want it in your candy sweets, uh?
Do you want it, do you do you want it?
Give it, give it, give it, give it
Do you want it on your rice and gravy?
Do you want it on your black-eyed peas?
Do you want it on your sweets baby?
Give it up, give it up, give it up, give it to
me
Gimme that love, gimme that love, gimme
Give it to me, give it to me, give it
Give it to me, give it to me, give it
Give it to me, give it to me, give it..."
Gloria and Terry fell
right on into the song and started singing and
making up lyrics as they went along "Gonna Clean
Up the Neighborhood..."
I hope Jill Scott will
not mind.
If you work in such an
area, you too can clean it up. Heck, the
houses cost enough. Free those senior
citizens huddled inside, peeking our of windows,
afraid to walk the streets.
That's somebody's
grandma! Is it yours?-IPL

pics I shot, click the Western Avenue photo link
